Hello, I am Kelly McSwain. I became a certified spiritual director through Sustainable Faith in May 2022. I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1997 and moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in Finance and Real Estate. During those years, my life seemed to go according to plan until my late 20s when I began to encounter a number of disappointments but my faith remained strong and seemed to “work.”

In my 30s and 40s, I began to find that faith answers were eluding me and church could only help so much. The hardship of the journey only increased and I found myself at the end of my faith “rope.” I was out of prayers and I wasn’t sure God was even listening. I sought out one of my mentors who had become a spiritual director. My precious friend and mentor introduced me to Sustainable Faith and I enrolled in their spiritual direction program the next month. Learning the rhythms of silence, solitude and honest prayer saved my faith life. Practicing acceptance and awareness of God’s presence all through my day has enabled me to endure my long and hard life journey.

I consider it a true privilege to offer a safe place for those who sit with me to let out their deepest feelings to and about God. I offer a judgement-free space for women to be honest with God and themselves because it is and has been a huge part of my own spiritual work and journey. My faith is strengthened as I witness women experience freedom and unconditional love from God as they explore who they perceive God to be and acknowledge some of the places He is inviting them. My favorite moments of listening as a director have been when directees admit disappointment and anger for the first time. God is not upset with this truth and neither am I! With honesty and sincerity of heart, I have seen God transform spiritual lives right before my eyes. I am forever grateful to those who allow me to journey alongside them and listen to their stories and heart’s cry.
